Russell Howard announces he’s quit TV after 19 years

has announced that he has ended his television career after a span of 19 years.

I had a rather enjoyable stint, I just prefer doing stand-up comedy. I was everywhere around the world and it was just a wonderfully entertaining experience.

The event is scheduled to visit internationally this year with performances in the US and Europe.

Howard said, "there's nothing I'd rather do than tour and put on shows."

“TV is enjoyable, but it's not as enjoyable,” he explained. “Writing a book I couldn't do because I don't want to sit around and entertain myself, but doing stand-up is what I love doing.”

He pointed out that he cherishes the independence he gets from doing stand-up.

“Films are not for committee vote, it's your call to make,” he continued. “The audience are much like an expert jury, who let you know with laughter whether your work is a hit or a miss.”

On Sky One as part of a two-year agreement, he penned and starred in the 14-part weekly comedy series.

He was roughly five minutes into his set when he spotted a woman in the very front row aiming her phone directly at him.

He informed her that filming him was "literally the worst thing you could do" and recommended she attempt "to live in the moment", before imitating her by pointing his own camera in her direction and walking off stage.

Speaking after the event, the comedian said "he probably did the right thing" with his response.
