Oilers winger Evander Kane undergoes knee surgery causing him to pause abdominal surgery recovery

Underwent knee surgery Thursday in Edmonton, getting a procedure done that is unrelated to his previous abdominal surgery, the team said in a statement Friday.
The team says Kane's latest surgery is expected to keep him out of commission for roughly four to eight weeks. Notably, this procedure will have to be done during his ongoing recovery from abdominal surgery he had done in September, which was to repair various ailments he was suffering from.
Frank Seravalli reported on Friday that he's heard Kane's recovery from his recent surgery could've kept him out of the lineup until at least mid-March, and he's now speculating about the impact of the latest procedure.
If you tack on four-to-eight weeks, I'm unsure if that'd still he true or if the math differs, but it's still pretty intriguing, as it would appear to keep Kane benched until the playoffs roll around, which would then give the Oilers the opportunity to utilize their Long-Term Injury Reserve space.
Stacking those games would mean Kane would be out of the Oilers lineup until mid-May, roughly around the end of their regular season, which wraps up on the 16th of May.
The team could place winger Patrick Kane on the Long Term Injured Reserve, which would let them go over the salary cap by $5.124-million, if defenceman Josh Brown is currently on the roster.
Kane played through injuries most of last season, suiting up for 77 regular season contests, netting 24 goals and 44 points along with him, and also chipping in with four goals and eight points in 20 playoff games.
